Frequently Asked Questions
Which ICT products support lithium-ion batteries?
Please refer to the datasheet for the specific product of interest or reach out to technical@ictcorporate.com for more information.
Why is the battery State of Charge field blank in the user interface?
The State of Charge data will populate after the battery has been deemed fully charged for a minimum of 24 hours. A fully charged battery means 54.0, 27.0 or 13.5 volts for a 48-, 24-, or 12-volt system. Reach out to technical@ictcorporate.com for more information.
Do I need surge suppression for my installation?
- Surge suppression is an important component of any communications network.Voltage surges and lightning strikes do occur and can significantly damage connected equipment. ICT recommends surge suppression devices for AC feeds, DC feeds, RF and data lines, especially those conductors which are exposed to an outside environment and are susceptible to lightning strikes.
- A site designer, power engineer, or applications engineer from companies which specialize in surge suppression devices is best placed to recommend appropriate surge or lightning suppression equipment for an installation.
How do I wire for split-phase 120/240 VAC?
- 120/240 VAC split-phase systems are common in North American electrical distribution circuits. In a 240 VAC split-phase circuit, there are two “hot” wires (L1 and L2).
- When connecting to a split-phase system to obtain 240 VAC, for ICT equipment designed to accept 240 VAC input, connect L1 from the source to the LINE (L) position on the ICT AC input connector; connect L2 from the source to the NEUTRAL (N) position on the ICT connector; and connect the GROUND from the source to the GROUND (G) position on the ICT connector.
How do I update the firmware on my ICT device?
On the ICT website, click on Resources > Product Firmware and select the product. Download the latest firmware. In the ZIP file will be a README document with step-by-step instructions.
What is negative voltage?
- With negative voltage, the load runs off the negative terminal while the positive terminal is the return.
- Polarity in a DC power system should not be mixed without proper isolation between circuits.
Where can I find an image of an ICT device for my CAD program?
ICT has a library of CAD and VISIO compatible images available. Reach out to technical@ictcorporate.com for more information.
Why do I measure DC voltage on an output to ICT’s equipment even though the circuit breaker is open or not installed?
This is normal operation; ICT equipment with intelligent monitoring features have a signal circuit used to detect and report breaker or fuse status. This signal voltage is measurable on the output terminals while the breakers are open and no load is connected. Since this is a high impedance signal voltage only, it will not power the load device and will no longer be present once a load is connected to the output.
How do I configure an ICT device to send email using Gmail?
ICT has a whitepaper which explains how to send email using Gmail. Reach out to technical@ictcorporate.com for more information.
What gauge cable do I need to connect to an ICT device?
Refer to the product manual for details about what gauge of cable is compatible with which ICT model number.
